Auto Safety Tips

What to do if you are involved in an automobile accident:

  • Stop and identify yourself.
  • Notify the police right away.
  • Take note of the name, address, phone number and insurance company of the driver of the other vehicle.
  • Take note of the make and model of the other vehicles involved as well as the license plate number and where any damage occurred on either vehicle.
  • Do not discuss the accident with anyone other than police and an authorized person from your insurance company.
  • Notify your insurance company immediately.

Cold Weather Driving Tips:

  • Have your battery serviced.
  • Regularly check all fluid levels.
  • Check that all lights and windshield wipers are in working condition.
  • Ensure your tires are in good snow/ice driving condition.

Hot Weather Driving Tips:

  • Help prevent your vehicle from overheating by making sure your radiator is working properly and is filled with fluid.
  • Check all fluid levels regularly.
  • Ensure that all tires are properly inflated.
  • Check that your air-conditioning is in working order before heading out.
  • If you are traveling a long distance try to plan the trip for early in the morning or later in the evening when the weather is cooler.
  • NEVER leave children or pets unattended for any length of time in a vehicle.  A closed vehicle can reach temperatures over 100 degrees in a very short time period.
  • Always wear your seatbelt, drive the speed limit and stay alert.
